Once the clock struck midnight dozens of Manhattan Beer delivery and distribution workers walked off the job Tuesday morning and went on strike at their headquarters in Hunts Point. This facility is one of four affected in this strike.
According to their union, Laundry, Distribution, and Food Service Joint Board workers are asking for retirement security, fair wages, and respect on the job.
Now what may this mean for you? The company is responsible for delivering beer to thousands of bars and restaurants across New York City. The strike could possibly dry up your local bars and bodegas across The Bronx.
The company also distributes beer staples like Corona, Modelo, Sam Adams, Coors, Blue Moon and more.
In the meantime, those at the negotiating table say they'll continue to negotiate for fair contracts as long as it takes. They also proposed an additional $1.50 an hour to increase future pension benefits.
