Dozens gathered outside a newly opened shop in Clinton Hill that is stirring up quite the controversy in the neighborhood.
There were people at the rally from both sides of the fence when it comes to the opening of Romantic Depot, the new adult shop that opened on Valentine's Day at Washington Avenue and Fulton Street.
Many who live in the area are furious, saying that the shop is too close to a school and religious establishments in the area. But the owner of the store and supporters say they're not doing anything wrong.
Some say the space is for those to harbor their sexual expression and others say it's disrespectful and must go. While some residents see this as an adult establishment, the shop is technically registered as a retail store because, according to the owner, there's more than just sexually explicit material sold there.
Some are asking to meet in the middle by suggesting changing the signage outside the store or adjusting the shop's hours so as not to operate during school dismissal.
For now, Romantic Depot plans on staying put while those who are frustrated by its placement say they'll rally daily if that's what it takes to have the shop removed.
