Parking along 86th Street is becoming a hassle for some Bensonhurst residents and some drivers feel they are being unfairly ticketed.
Drivers say there isn?t enough parking along 86th Street to accommodate shoppers. They say sometimes they are forced to double park because of the lack of parking. Some residents say traffic enforcement agents aren?t giving them warning to move their cars before writing up a ticket.
Members of the Bensonhurst West End Community Council have a petition to send to Mayor Bloomberg and the City Council complaining about the fines. The petition states that traffic enforcement laws on double parking should be modified. City Council members say they will look into how parking tickets are issued. However, they add shoppers along 86th Street should try to avoid double parking.
