Residents in DUMBO will soon say goodbye to dark streets and corners in their neighborhood.
The Department of Transportation?s (DOT) street lighting engineer surveyed parts of DUMBO and concluded several areas need more street lamps. So, now 12 new lights will illuminate the streets. Tucker Reed, of the DUMBO Improvement District, says the $26,000 being spend on new street lamps is well worth it.
DOT officials say lighting is an important asset to the area to keep residents safe. The new lights are expected to be installed by the end of the summer.
