A local company is giving back this holiday season so others can have a brighter new year.
Earth Animal in Westport is about people, animals and the Earth.
Owner Abbey Goldstein says she has always wanted to help her community. A few years ago, she raised money for Connecticut Foodshare and has noticed a real need since the pandemic started.
Goldstein has been helping with the Mitten Project. When you buy a $5 mitten at her store to keep warm this holiday season, Earth Animal will match dollar for dollar to help provide food this season for people who really need it.
People have gotten so into it that the mitten donations are displayed in the window.
Last year, Earth Animal raised about $38,000 for Connecticut Foodshare. This year that number will go up to $50,000.
Earth Animal set up a GoFundMe page.
