Residents of one Bronx building have had to resort to arming themselves with baseball bats against a rat infestation.
Tenants at 578 E. 141st Street say they've been calling 311 and have made complaints to the landlord. The residents say the rats are huge and have taken over the complex's basement and hallways. Tenants have health concerns for the children living there.
"It's bad for the kids," says tenant Daniel Pineiro. "They carry a lot of diseases. Kids have asthma. All they have to is brush up against one and they have an outbreak."
Attempts by News 12 The Bronx to contact the landlord have been unsuccessful.
