There's only a few thousand year-round residents on Shelter Island so the ferries aren't very busy in winter.
But in summer, you get a whole lot of tourists heading over, and one of the sites they visit is the
Pridwin Hotel.
News 12's Doug Geed took a look at the hotel that first opened in 1927.
Just a few years later -- in the 1930s -- Glenn Petry's grandparents started coming regularly to the waterfront hotel on Shelter Island.
In the 1960s, his father and a business partner bought the place. Now with new business partners, the Pridwin has just reopened after a two-year renovation.
