Local leaders are calling for an end to the gun violence that they say continues to plague the borough.
Councilman Jumaane Williams joined activists and concerned residents in East Flatbush Friday to discuss the impact gun violence has on the community, declaring that enough is enough.
It was just about a week ago that 15-year-old Isiah Joseph was fatally shot in the neighborhood on Avenue H, and that a 27-year-old man was shot on Avenue D, right outside a school while it was in session.
Joseph's parents are among those who are urging the community to come together to support an end to violence so that their son's death is not in vain.
The group also talked about outreach programs, such as Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, and $1 million in funding provided by the "Cure Violence" program, which gives money to organizations who are efforting ways to combat and prevent violence.
