A 17-year-old Tilden High School student is facing criminal charges after police say he brought a loaded gun to school Friday.
According to police, the weapon was discovered when the student passed through the school's metal detector. Police say the .35 caliber gun had a bullet in the chamber and in the magazine. Since Tilden is on the city's impact school's list it has metal detectors and an increased presence of school safety agents. Students at the school say they had no idea one of their peers was even arrested.
Police say the student could be charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
