A new food pantry in East New York is looking to alleviate food insecurity in the community while providing parents with basic necessities such as diapers and baby wipes for free.

The line at 2832 Fulton St. wrapped around the building Friday as local residents came out to get food as well as baby essentials from the brand-new food pantry, Expecting Relief. Organizers say their focus at this pantry is to tackle a deep-rooted need for basic child-raising necessities in the community.

This new permanent location for Expecting Relief will help improve the frequency of its services. It had only been operating monthly distribution events at a temporary location.

Volunteers handed out diapers, sanitary napkins, baby formula and food necessities to families in need. In order to stop by and pick up items, you have to have a child and make an appointment online.

The pantry is 100% donation-based and receives items on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
