Local firefighters are on their way to Florida this weekend to help with hurricane cleanup and relief.
Last week, the Easton Fire Department started collecting items from the community for Hurricane Ian victims.
The idea for the collection and assistance effort came from a firefighter who has family in Fort Meyers.
"We tried to help them as much as we could and...the fire department was devasted," said Dave Davies. "They've had their own members lose houses and property and all the kind of stuff so it grew from that. And now we're literally going with three trucks and we're going to be down there approximately a week helping out with their effort."
They expect the drive to take 30 hours and will stop only to switch drivers.
