Psychologists say it's one of the most important things a person can do to boost their mental health - make yourself feel small. Tap into something larger than yourself - nature, religion, family.
For 86-year-old Edison resident Ed Galkin, that "something" is flying in his Cessna single-engine airplane.
"I look down and I see how small everything is. I realize how small a guy I really am,' Galkin said. "And the things I get excited about – it’s not worth getting excited over."
It's a feeling Galkin is going to have a lot over the next few months. Galkin, and his co-captain Zvi Mosery, just finished the first leg of an extraordinary around-the-world trip - from Central Regional Airport in Hillsborough to Newfoundland, Canada.
It's Galkin’s fourth round-the-world trip and an effort to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. His brother Sam passed away in 2017 after suffering from the disease.
On today's episode of "Brian's Positively New Jersey," we speak with Galkin and his worried wife Bobbie about flying around the world at 86 years of age.
