An elderly man died after swerving into oncoming traffic in Borough Park Wednesday. Police believe the man may have suffered a heart attack.
The accident occurred at the intersection of 17th Avenue and 56th Street. Police say the man was driving a blue sedan, which swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into a black SUV. According to police, the man was taken to Maimonides Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police say the driver of the SUV was taken to Lutheran Medical Center with minor injuries.
Police are trying to determine whether the man had the heart attack before or after the crash. That factor will determine whether the NYPD or Highway Patrol handles the accident investigation.
