A 70-year-old woman was struck and killed Thursday afternoon while crossing a Kensington street. Police say the elderly woman was crossing the Ocean Parkway service road when the accident occurred. They say a pick-up truck was stopped at the stop sign at the corner of Ocean Parkway and Ditmas Avenue in the southbound lane. The woman was struck as she attempted to run across the road at the same time the driver of the truck accelerated from the stop. The accident remains under investigation. The driver has not been arrested. Residents say the stop sign does not do enough to slow down drivers and they are calling for a traffic light to be installed.
