Elected officials spotlight increase in online harassment

Elected officials came together on Monday to put a focus on the ways that New York City is tackling online harassment against women and girls.
As artificial intelligence technology continues to improve, leaders say online harassment is a unique problem that can't go unnoticed.
"When we talk about it, it's really important that we continue to drive home the fact that the root causes of this behavior exist everywhere," said Saloni Sethi, first deputy commissioner of the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence. "And this is just a new space where these behaviors are sort of playing out."
City Council officials say they want to take what they've learned from the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence to try and prevent more online harassment.
