There’s a new way to go green coming to New York City. and it's starting off in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn-born company itselectric has set up three charging stations across the city.
The pilot program includes three chargers in front of the Brooklyn Army Terminal bank and another three in front of Steiner Studios.
The stations charge at 25 mph, so drivers can leave their vehicle overnight. For neighbors trying to earn a little extra money, there’s an incentive to installing one of the chargers at home or work.
Officials say a charger can be installed in front of a building and then can bring in passive income every month from people who park in front of the building and charge.
The company hopes to install 100 of these chargers throughout the country by the end of the year.
