Fire officials are investigating an early morning fire at a pizzeria in Midwood.
The flames broke out at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Avenue M. It took crews just under two hours to get the fire under control.
Officials say the main damage appears to be at Spicy Nonna Pizza and an office upstairs. They say the fire started on the second floor and spread to the ceiling of the first.
No injuries were reported.
The owner says his shop has only been open for two months. He says this is the second fire that he has dealt with in the past year-and-a-half. His home burned down last year.
The owner says he was actually alerted to the fire after receiving an email from News 12. He says his restaurant was one of the few open on Saturday in the predominantly Jewish neighborhood.
Workers nearby say they are upset at the loss to the community.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
