Residents at the Pelham Parkway Houses held an emergency meeting Tuesday night following the murder of their 88-year-old neighbor.
According to tenants, safety concerns were addressed at the closed-door meeting after Evelyn Shapiro was found bludgeoned to death inside her home Saturday morning. They say a volunteer neighborhood watch program is being set up to help patrol the lobby and check on the elderly.
Police say they have not yet made any arrests in the case.
