(05/05/08) BROOKLYN ? Emotions ran high Monday as the uncle of a 3-year-old murder victim lunged at the girl?s alleged killer in court.
Tensions mounted in the courtroom as the victim?s mother, Natasha Clark, and other family members came face-to-face with suspect General Lee Waiters during opening arguments.
?He didn?t even like say I?m sorry or anything,? says Clark. ?Didn?t show anything.?
Waiters is accused of fatally shooting Tajmere Clarke the morning after a party in 2006. Prosecutors say he was attempting to shoot someone else, but killed Tajmere and shot three others. Waiters? defense attorney says there?s no evidence his client intended to hit any of the victims.
As the judge instructed jurors behind closed doors, Tajmere?s uncle lunged for Waiters in the courtroom. Family and friends quickly restrained him before court officers escorted him from the room.
Tajmere?s family will hold a vigil for the slain child on the second anniversary of her death. The vigil will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at Williams and Blake avenues.
