EMS 39 will be operating as usual for the first time after completed renovations.
The design and rebuilding process took about three years to complete.
Modernizing the building was the main focus to help EMS workers do their jobs better, but designers also integrated green initiatives throughout the entire building.
The renovations cost $11.3 million, with the goal in mind to make the facility more environmentally friendly.
Now, the facility uses more natural lighting, has floor heating, has a green roof to collect rainwater, and all hot water in the building is heated by the sun.
The renovated station serves Cypress Hills, Brownsville and East New York, with 10 ambulances and a team of more than 75 paramedics and officers.
