In a massive pull over operation, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation spent Wednesday morning ticketing trucks with dirty emissions.
Officials took over the Atlantic Center area and inspected the diesels on trucks that drove by, issuing several tickets to drivers who were emitting black or blue smoke.
All violators were hit with a $700 ticket. In addition, clean trucks that were missing an emissions sticker got fined as well.
According to the DEC, around 20 percent of all trucks on the road have some sort of an air pollution violation.
Officials are warning drivers and say they will be coming to a different borough every month with the new pull over program.
