Essex County authorities arrest 41 fugitives in warrant sweep
Dozens of people wanted for a variety of crimes have been arrested in a major sweep in Essex County.
The county prosecutor says that 41 fugitives with outstanding arrest warrants are now in custody. Officials say that the crimes range from weapons possessions to murder.
"The fact that we went out and got 41 of the most violent and the most serious individuals off the street is extremely important. Not only will it stop other crimes from being committed by them, but also sends a message to the streets as well. That you can run, but you can't hide,” said acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II.
Officials say that four of the people arrested were wanted for homicides and that 12 have alleged gang affiliations.
