Everything Sprouts recall linked to E. coli, salmonella outbreak

An E. coli and salmonella outbreak impacting over a dozen states is leading to the recall of a brand of sprouts.
Everything Sprouts, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, says certain lots of Alfalfa Sprouts have the potential to be contaminated with Shiga toxin, organisms that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.
At least 55 people in 15 states across the country, including New York, have become sick, with four individuals needing to be hospitalized, the FDA says.
Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting, though most people recover within a week, according to officials.
The recalled product was distributed by the company from May 27, 2026 to August 21, 2026 to wholesale distributors and grocery stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The sprouts are packaged in individual 5 oz. plastic containers and were also used in Everything Sprouts Crunchy Protein Sprout Mix 5 oz. cups.
Consumers who think they may have received affected lots should immediately dispose of them and carefully clean and sanitize any surfaces, the FDA says.
