Former Brooklyn Assemblyman Clarence Norman was sentenced to one to three years in prison Monday for extortion.
Norman was convicted in February of grand larceny and attempted grand larceny. District Attorney Charles Hynes says Norman extorted money from judicial candidates in 2002. Hynes said, ?Clarence Norman manipulated the judicial selection system and perverted the way judges are elected in this county.?
In addition to his prison sentence, Norman was also ordered to pay back $10,000 in restitution to the judicial candidate he was convicted of extorting money from.
