A former NYPD officer accused of killing his girlfriend and wounding another in Brooklyn has been arrested.
Police say Jerry Bowens was arrested around 3:30 a.m. Monday on Staten Island. According to police, Bowens fatally shot 28-year-old Catherine D'Onofrio in the head Sunday afternoon in Greenpoint.
Cops say the second woman, Melissa Simmons, also 28, was grazed in the head by a bullet and also shot in the arm. Simmons was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Bowens resigned from the NYPD last year after being charged with drug possession and other offenses. He and another officer were accused of stealing cocaine and money to reward an informant for tipping them off.
Bowens was taken to Kings County Hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
