A former James Monroe High School pitcher and professional player gave back to his community in the form of a youth pitching clinic.

Hector Berrios is currently the pitching coach for the Brooklyn Cyclones. He played professionally from 1984 to 1992 in the Royals, Tigers, Angels, Dodgers and Cubs organizations.

Berrios took time out of his schedule and joined forces with his childhood friend, Tony Melendez, to put on a clinic for 40-plus kids. Besides teaching the kids how to play the game, Berrios stressed the importance of staying in school.

He even signed autographs and took pictures.

Berrios said it was a dream come true to pass on his knowledge to Bronx youths.
