The NYPD says the Hate Crime Task Force is part of an investigation that is looking into antisemitic vandalism at Tribeca Pediatrics on Sunday morning.
A symbol of peace now covers the hateful depictions along the entrance ramp to the medical office.
“I have never seen something like this,” says Devika Vigilance, of Bay Ridge. “All we can pray is that through education, this won’t repeat.”
A staff member from the pediatrics office said a parent discovered the vandalism early Monday morning and reported it to doctors.
Residents along Third Avenue, a busy corridor in Bay Ridge, expressed their concerns.
“It shouldn’t happen anywhere,” one community member said. “We’ve been hearing a lot about it, but you normally don’t see that in Bay Ridge—especially in a busy area like this.”
State Sen. Andrew Gounardes (D-Brooklyn) said his office took immediate action upon learning about the vandalism.
“We just wanted to make sure that everyone knew we would not tolerate this type of vandalism and display of antisemitism anywhere in our community,” Gounardes said.
For now, residents say the best way to combat hate is through unity.
“Wake up, people. Talk to each other and get educated. It’s stupidity,” one resident said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
