Newly obtained surveillance video shows a man hurling bricks into the basement level of a Clinton Hill building early Monday morning, shattering a window and damaging a therapy studio inside, according to police and the business owner.
The incident happened on Dec. 29 around 5 a.m. Video shows the man holding an umbrella and appearing to spin around before throwing the brick, then returning an hour later to do the same thing to a different window on the ground floor.
Both objects remained at the scene days later.
Police said they are searching for a male suspect believed to be about 6 feet tall and are investigating the case as criminal mischief.
Melissa Frankel, who owns the therapy studio, said she was forced to close for five days to clean and repair the damage.
“You can see the dent he left when he threw it,” Frankel said. “We have been cleaning, repairing.”
A resident who lives directly above the shattered window said the incident left her shaken.
“It’s terrifying. I have a young daughter in my home, its violating, it shows no impulse control and this guy is just walking around” said Emma, who asked to be identified by first name only.
Residents told News 12 that the building has been targeted several times in recent months, including incidents where eggs were thrown at the property.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
