An exhibition documenting the last 125 years of life at Coney Island has opened at the Brooklyn Museum.
Museum officials say the exhibit, "Goodbye Coney Island?", comes at a poignant time for the storied resort area since development plans are currently up in the air.
"It's a very topical exhibition," says curator Patrick Amsellem. "We don't know what will happen, that's the thing."
There are more than 50 photographs of famous Coney Island sites at the exhibit. Snapshots of the Oriental Hotel, boardwalk and Thunderbolt roller coaster are just a few of the memories captured.
"I think we can all be sure that Coney Island will remain, we just don't know in what shape."
The exhibition will run until April 6.
