Transportation experts are calling the Bronx River Parkway inadequate and outdated following an accident that took the lives of seven family members.
According AAA spokesperson Robert Sinclair, the stretch near the Bronx Zoo, the East 177th Street exit and the off ramp toward the George Washington Bridge are the three biggest problem areas on the highway. He says the exit ramps at those locations are too short and narrow for the volume of traffic.
Many Bronx drivers agree and say low visibility is another danger because the parkway has too many dips.
Sinclair says it would cost trillions of dollars to update highways and parkways like the Bronx River. He advises drivers to instead slow down and use good judgment behind the wheel.
