Detecting child abuse was on the agenda at a forum for health professionals Tuesday at Bronx Community College.Five panelists passed on knowledge they learned about how to spot the signs. The program, sponsored by St. Barnabas Hospital, aims to teach people who the state deems "mandated reporters" of child abuse. Some of those people include doctors, nurses, teachers and counselors.Experts say reporting suspected abuse can be as easy as calling the city's free 311 information line. They stress that undocumented residents can also report problems without fear of immigration officials being contacted.Related information:Child abuse hotline: 1-800-342-3720 Mandated reporters' hotline: 1-800-635-1522
