Back by popular demand, I Am Caribbeing and Extra Butter partnered together to bring back the Nike Air Force 1s with a West Indies twist.
The kicks were re-released right in time for the upcoming iconic carnival weekend. Businesses in the Little Caribbean part of Brooklyn all received a pair of the shoes to support what they stand for.
Not only do the sneakers pay tribute to the Caribbean population in Brooklyn, but citywide. Twenty percent of New Yorkers are of Caribbean descent, according to Shelley Worrell, founder of I Am Caribbeing.
Some New Yorkers may be looking to sport these new shoes for this weekend’s West Indian parade, which is making a comeback after being delayed for two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
