Parishioners of a Bed-Stuy church were forced to say their Christmas prayers elsewhere after a neighboring building began shedding bricks Sunday.
Dozens of churchgoers waited outside Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Tompkins Avenue Sunday morning while city inspectors examined the structure next door. Department of Buildings officials say more than 24 bricks fell from the vacant building next to the church, leaving the area too dangerous to inhabit.
The Department of Buildings issued several violations to the neighboring building's owner, who officials say failed to maintain the structure properly. Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church will hold services elsewhere until improvements are made next door.
