Families in Brownsville strapped on their skates Saturday afternoon for an event that brought the entire community together.

Kids and parents rolled around Betsey Head Memorial Playground for Brownsville's 2nd Annual Skate Day.

Skate Truck NYC provided all footwear, helmets and pads for the event so that participants could enjoy a safe and fun-filled day.

The free event was sponsored by the Ocean Hill Brownsville Neighborhood Improvement Association. It was designed to give residents an afternoon of fun while also participating in a healthy and recreational activity.

Organizers say they are already planning for next year.
