Some residents gained a new appreciation for local waterways Saturday at the SUNY Maritime College waterfront during the annual “Boogie Down to the Sound” event.
Volunteers and boating instructors drove people around in speedboats, and marine specialists hosted kid-friendly activities. There were also kayaks available for families who wanted to cruise around in the water.
“It's about people getting out with their family, having a great time on the water and making memories and really connecting with our local environment,” says Rob Crafa, the waterfront director at SUNY Maritime.
Crafa told News 12 this is the fourth annual event, and that each year they plan to make it bigger and better.
