Family members of a Clinton Hill man shot and killed Saturday says they are pressing for an independent investigation into his death.
Relatives of Shem Walker, 49, say he was asking a man who was sitting on his stoop to leave when the man, who was an undercover cop, shot him. Police claim the officer identified himself as undercover before Walker began beating him in the head. Authorities say Walker tried to grab the cop's gun when it fired and killed him.
Family members say Walker did not instigate a fight. They also say the cop never identified himself as an undercover officer.
