The family of a 27-year-old man fatally stabbed in Downtown Brooklyn last week came together on Friday to light candles at 9:01 p.m. - steps away from Barclays Center.

They say it's the same time and location that Michael Hernandez Jr. took his last breath last Friday.

Police say Hernandez was stabbed several times in the abdomen around 9 p.m. on Friday.

Investigators told News 12 a large group gathered outside the Atlantic Terminal Mall prior to the stabbing, and multiple people ran from the scene.

News 12 spoke with his mother Marisol Miranda who says Michael was a bright light.

"There's a saying 'the good die young' and I believe that. But you know what, my son didn't die because of natural causes or something like that, you murdered him," said Miranda.

Anyone with information is encouraged to give the authorities a call.
