The Family Justice Center in Brooklyn has helped so many families that the city plans to open two more centers in the borough.
The Brooklyn District Attorney?s office houses the family center, which has helped more than 4,500 adults and 1,000 children. Officials say when the center began, it mostly serviced victims of domestic violence. However, they say there has been a rise in the number of visitors walking in from the streets for any number of reasons.Workers are encouraged by the increased number of families because they say that means Brooklyn residents in need are comfortable taking advantage of city services.
