New Yorkers will pay more for their NYC Ferry commutes as fare hikes take effect on Monday.

Individual ferry rides will now cost $4.50 as NYC transit officials tout record ridership since the program first launched in 2022.

According to the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the program has seen a record of 7 million riders in 2024. The price hike aims to reduce the subsidy for the service by 30%, down from a onetime subsidy of over $8 in state dollars per ride.

Cheaper tickets can be purchased in bulk for those who commute along the line, with free and reduced-price tickets also available for students which went into effect earlier this month.
