A Bronx father is being hailed a hero after he took a bullet trying to protect his children.
It happened inside a car dealership along Boston Road Monday around 7 p.m.
The father was sitting on the couch with his three kids, when a man ran up to the lobby window and started firing his gun, causing panic and chaos inside.
Bystanders ran for cover as the 39-year-old father jumped on his children and plunged to the floor. Seconds later, the dad continues to shield his children as more shots go flying.
The surveillance video from inside managed to catch the gunmen before they made a run for it.
The mother of the three children say the father of her children is in the hospital recovering, but in a lot of pain after being shot in the thigh.
Sources say the victim's name is Anthony Jefferson.
The mother of the children said her birthday is coming up and her family was at the dealership to surprise her with a car for her birthday.
As of now, News 12 is told detectives are working to identify three suspects.
