A person was sent to the hospital after a fire ripped through an East Flatbush apartment building Saturday afternoon.
Citizen App video captured the moment when flames shot out from a second-floor window of the six-story building.
The fire department said the fire started around 3 p.m. in apartment 2C.
They said it took about an hour to contain the fire.
When a News 12 crew arrived on the scene, there were still many firefighters assessing the remnants of the fire.
They knocked out the glass from the inside and sprayed water to dissipate some of the smoke.
Residents waited outside on the streets as many of them were confused about what had happened.
One person was taken to Kings County Hospital but it was not clear if that person lived in the unit where the fire started.
A resident told News 12 she smelled the smoke before she even heard the fire alarm.
As of Saturday night, many residents had returned to their apartments.
It was not clear how many units were damaged during the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
