Police say a student has been hospitalized after a report of a stabbing at Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom High School.
The FDNY says it happened around 2:10 p.m.
School sources say it happened at the school’s library. Police say an 18-year-old student was stabbed multiple times by a 16-year-old student.
School sources tell News 12 that the 16-year-old student is still on the loose at this time.
Police say the incident is gang-related.
The FDNY says the victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.
The Department of Education released a statement saying, “The safety of students and staff is our top priority, both NYPD and EMS immediately responded to an incident at the high school today and we are providing supports to the family and students at the school. We are working closely with NYPD while they investigate, adding more school safety agents and NYPD support to the school.”
