The FDNY says a fire broke out on the fifth floor of an apartment building at 451 Kingston Ave. on Monday afternoon.

Fire officials say two people were taken to hospitals for minor injuries.

Firefighters responded quickly to the scene, battling heavy smoke and flames despite windy conditions.

The FDNY says the fire was contained within an hour.

The exact location of the fire on the fifth floor remains unclear, but no visible damage was reported on the building’s exterior.

Residents were seen entering and exiting the building without issue following the fire.

The American Red Cross is offering assistance to those affected by the fire.

Impacted residents can contact the Greater New York Disaster Action Team by calling 1-877-RED CROSS (877-733-2767) and selecting Option 1 for recovery support.
