Two people were hurt during a fire that broke out overnight inside a Hunts Point apartment building, according to the FDNY.

Fire officials say it began at around midnight on the fifth floor of the six-story building on Bryant Avenue. The fire took nearly an hour to get under control.

Officials say the injuries suffered by the two victims are not considered life-threatening.

News 12 crews recorded broken glass on the fifth floor of the building and blackened bricks on the outside of the windows on Bryant Avenue.

Jorge Marin, a resident of the building, told News 12 about the moments after the fire broke out.

“I smelled something funny. When I opened up the door I said fire, fire, fire. Nobody came out so I started waking up everybody in the whole building.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
