Man dies after diver pulls him from basement floodwaters in East Flatbush

Police say a man died after an FDNY diver rescued him from a flooded basement in East Flatbush.

The 39-year-old man's death marks the first confirmed storm-related fatality in Brooklyn on Thursday.

FDNY SCUBA responded to the home at 564 Kingston Ave. just before 4:30 p.m.

A rescue diver searched through floodwater in the basement and removed the 39-year-old man, the FDNY says. EMS took him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
