A two-alarm fire broke out in Flatbush on Wednesday night at a four-story family home, according to the FDNY.
Firefighters say the flames erupted just before 7 p.m.
Neighbors tell News 12 that they spoke with the fire marshal who said the fire is under control. The families that live inside say they don’t know how the fire started.
Many of the families in the building say they have children, and that they were able to exit the structure safely. A large number of pets were in the home, including 30 birds.
Members of the FDNY are still on the scene entering and exiting the home, and no families are able to re-enter at this time. Red Cross representatives are on the scene helping families who were impacted.
No cause of the fire has been determined.
This is a developing story.
