FDNY: Fire rips through multiple buildings in Borough Park

FDNY officials say the fire started after 7 p.m. in a catering hall and made its way to a commercial building next door.

A fire ripped through a Borough Park neighborhood and damaged multiple buildings Tuesday night, according to the FDNY.
Firefighters extended their ladders to the top of the building at 5802 New Utrecht Ave., the home of catering hall Paradise Manor.
FDNY officials say the fire started after 7 p.m. in a catering hall and made its way to a commercial building next door. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were able to put the flames out two hours later, but the work to ensure the fire did not reignite continued well into the night.
Both buildings involved suffered serious damage as a result of the flames but are not at the risk of collapse.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
