The FDNY says firefighters put out a blaze Saturday afternoon that quickly turned into a two-alarm fire.
It happened right next to the Pepsi building along Rockaway Avenue. A total of 25 units responded to the scene. It was extinguished at around 2:30 p.m.
News 12 spoke with the man who called 911.
“I saw the flames – they had to be like 18 feet over the drape," said Joe Cozzoli, a Pepsi employee. "I told my boss that the Pepsi trucks are against the wall. I thought they were going to go on fire. We all came over and moved the trucks and these guys [FDNY] are heroes.”
Two people were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County for minor injuries, according to fire officials.
It was not immediately clear how the fire began.
