The FDNY held its first summer block party on Saturday afternoon on Park Avenue.
Throughout the course of the summer, the FDNY will host a series of block party community events at firehouses in all five boroughs. This year, locations were chosen in neighborhoods that are significant to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
The FDNY says the block party is an opportunity for families to enjoy connecting with their neighbors and their local firefighters.
“We encourage New Yorkers to join these community events that celebrate the connection between FDNY members and the people they protect,” said Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh.
