FDNY: Morris Heights fire sends 3 to hospital in serious condition
A fire broke out inside River Park Towers housing complex, seriously injuring three people.
The flames came from the 31st floor of a tower in the back of the complex, and the fire chief tells News 12 that the cause of the fire was an e-bike - specifically adding that an explosion of an e-bike lithium battery may be the culprit.
The fire was placed under control around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The FDNY says that three civilians were transported with serious conditions to Lebanon and Jacobi hospitals. No firefighters were hurt.
FDNY officials warn New Yorkers that e-bikes should not be charged inside of buildings or apartments.
